© copyright 2011 • Ifeoma Okwor has successfully won the “Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) - 2011  Doctoral Research Award” valued at $35,000 for up to 3 years, and also the ”Deer Lodge  Hospital Staff Association Memorial Fund -  Personal Award” valued at $1000. • Forough Khadem has received the “University of Manitoba - Faculty of Graduate Studies -  International Graduate Student Scholarship (IGSS)” valued at $4000.  • Zhirong Mou received the “Manitoba Health Research Council (MHRC) - Travel Award” valued  at $1500 to attend the 15th Annual Woods Hole Immunoparasitology Meeting in April. • Emeka Okeke received the “Manitoba Institute of Child Health (MICH) - Travel Award” valued at  $1000, to attend the 24th Canadian Society for Immunology Meeting in April 2011. • Ifeoma Okwor was the number one recipient of the “24th Canadian Society for Immunology  (CSI) - Travel Award” (Miltenyi Award), valued at $1,000. • Forough Khadem and Ifeoma Okwor both received the “University of Manitoba - Faculty of  Graduate Studies - Travel Award” valued at $500 to attend the 24th Canadian Society for  Immunology Meeting in April 2011. • Forough Khadem won the “University of Manitoba - Dean of Medicine - Travel Award’  and also  the ”Deer Lodge Hospital Staff Association Memorial Fund - Travel Award” each valued at $500, to attend the 24th Canadian Society for Immunology Meeting in April 2011. • Our first PhD student, Dr. Dong Liu, defended his PhD Thesis entitled "Regulation of Anti-  Leishmania Immunity by host and parasite molecules"  on Tuesday March 15th, 2011. • Our lab members (Mou Z., Jia P., Kuriakose S., Khadem F. and Uzonna J.E.) recently  published their work (Interleukin-17-mediated control of parasitemia in experimental  Trypanosoma congolense infection in mice) in Infection and Immunity, 78(12):5271-9.
